US AMBASSADOR PARTICIPATES IN OPENING OF MYKOLAYIV OBLAST AIDS PREVENTION & TREATMENT CENTER

United States Ambassador in Ukraine, William B. Taylor, attended the opening ceremony of the Mykolayiv Oblast AIDS Prevention & Treatment Center, Monday, March 17. In his remarks, Ambassador Taylor highlighted the scope of what can be accomplished when governments work together for the common good. This renovated clinic will help reduce the spread of HIV through testing and counseling activities in the Oblast as well as provide treatment for those already infected with the virus.

Over the past six months, the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation has contributed over $175,000 to renovate two floors of the building, including doors, windows, flooring, electrical wiring, and water pipelines. During the same time frame, the local government has allocated an equal amount to renovate the roof, sewage system and outside landscaping.
