PRESS CONFERENCE DURING SENATOR RICHARD LUGAR’S VISIT TO UKRAINE

United States Senator Richard G. Lugar, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will visit Ukraine January 15-16. Senator Lugar is scheduled to meet with President Yushchenko and Prime Minister Tymoshenko, as well as other representatives of the government, the opposition and local business community here in Kyiv. Senator Lugar is the first senior U.S. Government official to visit Ukraine since the formation of the new government. He will discuss key issues in the U.S.-Ukrainian relationship.

Senator Lugar will hold a press conference at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16 at the Residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, 5 Pokrovska St., Podil. Journalists who wish to attend should contact the Information Section of the U.S. Embassy at 490-4090 or 490-4129 in order to be accredited. Deadline for accreditation is 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15.
