Press and Information > Press Release Archive – August 5, 2004 PRESS ATTACHE ROTATION AT U.S. EMBASSY Brent Byers, a career foreign service officer, begins his duties as the U.S. Embassy’s Press Attache August 10. He succeeds Patricia Guy, who has been the Press Attache since August, 2002. Mr. Byers joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1990. He has served as Director of the U.S. Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, Israel, and as the Deputy Press Officer at U.S. Embassies in Islamabad, Pakistan, and Seoul, South Korea. Most recently, he worked in Washington, D.C., as head of the U.S. State Department's Public Diplomacy Desk for the Andean Countries of South America, including Colombia, Venezuela and Peru. Mr. Byers worked as a broadcast and print journalist in the Washington, D.C., area prior to joining the Foreign Service. Accompanying him to Ukraine are his wife and two children. Ms. Guy will be the Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Munich, Germany.
