Press and Information > Press Release Archive – May 4, 2004 AMBASSADOR HERBST IN SEVASTOPOL WITH 6TH FLEET VICE ADMIRAL U.S. Ambassador John Herbst will be in Sevastopol Wednesday, May 5, in connection with the visit of the commander of the U.S. 6th fleet Vice Admiral Harry Ulrich and the U.S. Coast Guard cutter TAMPA. While in Sevastopol, Ambassador Herbst and Vice Admiral Ulrich will meet with the commander of Ukraine’s naval forces, Rear Admiral Ihor Knyaz. Vice Admiral Ulrich and the TAMPA also will host a reception on board the cutter. The TAMPA arrived in Sevastopol today, May 4 to conduct training exercises with the Ukrainian Navy. The cutter, with a crew of about 100, conducts search and rescue operations, safety inspections and border security activities. No public or press events are scheduled in connection with the visit of Vice Admiral Ulrich or the TAMPA.
