U.S. EMBASSY ANNOUNCES OPEN DEMOCRACY GRANT COMPETITION FOR LVIV AND KHARKIV OBLASTS

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine is pleased to announce an open competition of the Democracy Grant Program for Lviv and Kharkiv oblasts.

The aim of the program is to support Ukrainian registered NGO's (non-profit and non-government organizations) to carry out unique and sustainable pilot projects fostering democratic reform. The competition for Lviv and Kharkiv oblasts foresees the financing of at least 15 projects that promote reforms in such areas as, Human Rights, Rule of Law, Third Sector Development, Civic Education, Market Economy and Community Activism.

The budget of the program is approximately $225,000. All decisions regarding the program will be made by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.

The application deadline is May 18, 2001. Applications may be submitted by regular mail, e-mail or in person to the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section.
