American Corner Workshop in Yalta, Crimea

Participants of the American Corner Workshop in Yalta, Crimea From June 6-8, an American Corner Workshop was held in Yalta for 60 participants from the U.S., Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Turkmenistan. Along with the presentations by IROs Holly Murten, William Middleton and Laura Kaspari Hohmann, IRC Director Valentyna Pashkova gave a presentation on IIP products and services, while IRC Coordinator Natalka Yasko gave one on the feedback received from Ukraine Windows on America (WOA).

In addition, PAO Michelle Logsdon spoke about working with the press and RELO Lisa Harshbarger briefed the participants on the resources available for teachers of English. Ukrainian WOA center directors spoke on their best practices and shared their experiences in programming, collection development and other issues.

American Corner heads received new IIP products and other materials. Special attention was paid to the new edition of the InfoUSA CD. The workshop helped facilitate networking and communication between centers. After the workshop, one participant said, "The workshop inspired us to further develop our WOA center programs and services. The presentations, discussions, materials were useful and inspirational."
