U.S. Senators Richard G. Lugar and Barack Obama Visit
U.S. Senators Richard G. Lugar and Barack Obama visited Kyiv, Ukraine,
on August 29 to sign the new Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction
agreement - an agreement to counter the threat of bioterrorism and to
prevent the proliferation of biological weapons, technology, materials
and expertise. During their visit they met President of Ukraine
Yushchenko, Prime-Minister Tymoshenko and other officials. They also went to Donetsk to visit the Donetsk State Chemical Product Plant where excess Ukrainian weapons and munitions are being eliminated.
