Welcome to The Exhibition

"Images from Ground Zero"

December 14, 2002 - January 15, 2003

Location: L'viv Palace of Art, L'viv, 17 Kopernika St., L'viv

A photo exhibit by eminent American photographer Joel Meyerowitz was opened at the National Art Museum in Kyiv on September 11 in a ceremony marking the anniversary of last year's terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. Ambassador Pascual, Foreign Minister Zlenko, other senior Ukrainian officials and public figures and members of the diplomatic corps participated in the opening. Images for the exhibit come from a photo archive of the destruction and recovery at Ground Zero that Joel Meyerowitz started creating at the request of the Museum of the City of New York within a few days of the terrorist attacks. The purpose of this dramatic exhibition is to visually relate the catastrophic destruction of the 9-11 attacks and the physical and human dimensions of the recovery effort.
