Dear friends and wardens,

This warden message is to inform you about a new type of scam recently reported by the MTS telecommunications company.

If you receive a call on your cellular phone from a person introducing himself or herself as an official MTS company representative, i.e. service engineer, etc., who tells you that he or she is checking your line and asks you to press #90 or # 09 or any other digits /signs combination, you need to hang up immediately by pressing the HANG UP key only. Please do not press any other key combination. Pressing the requested combination will result in the caller receiving access to your SIM card and and being able to perform phone calls at your expense.

This information was officially confirmed by the MTS company. Please be advised that this scam may be employed against phones from other mobile telephone operators. We encourage all cellular phone users to notify their mobile service providers of any suspicious activity performed through their telephone numbers.
