U.S. Passport Services

The American Citizens Services Unit is open for passport applications any working day between 09.00 and 12.00 in the morning, Monday through Friday. The Unit is closed to the public on American and Ukrainian public holidays.

All U.S. citizens transiting, staying or residing in Ukraine must have their own valid U.S. passports, including children and infants. American citizen children, born outside the U.S., may apply for their Consular Report of Birth Abroad as well as their first U.S. passport in the Consular Section of the US Embassy in Kyiv. We also accept applications to renew expiring or expired passports, or replace passports that have been lost, stolen, or mutilated. A lost or stolen passport must be replaced immediately.

U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas no longer issue full validity passports at post. Overseas posts accept passport applications and electronically forward them to the National Passport Center in the United States. The full validity passport is then sent back to the Embassy or Consulate to be issued to the applicant. The turnaround time for this process is usually up to seven business days.

In cases where the applicant must travel urgently or has an immediate need for a passport, the Embassy or Consulate can issue an emergency passport that is valid for one year. The emergency passport can be exchanged later for a full validity passport at an Embassy or Consulate overseas or at a Passport Agency in the United States.

Passport application procedure details can be found by selecting your specific passport service from the menu at the left side of this page.
